Is ‘The Challenge’ Rigged? 3 Castmates Who Chimed In

What do Lolo Jones, Cara Maria Sorbello and Wes Bergman have in common? They’ve all commented on whether or not The Challenge is staged or rigged behind the scenes.

Lolo Jones

Let’s start with Lolo Jones, the Olympian who randomly quit The Challenge: Double Agents. Fair to say she was not necessarily the best fit for the group and she had better places to be (she actually just won gold at the bobsledding world championships for Team USA). When fans criticized her for quitting the show, Lolo responded with a series of tweets. She claimed it was MTV who made her leave the show and that she had to act like it was her decision. What!?

She also hinted that there may be alot behind the scenes on The Challenge that fans are just not privy to and to remember that this is a TV show and not the complete real story. Unclear what the truth is in this situation. Is Lolo just deflecting to not be perceived as a quitter or did MTV really ask her to leave?

Cara Maria Sorbello

Let’s rewind to The Challenge: Vendettas, a season that Cara did not appear in. At this point there was lots of drama between her boyfriend Paulie and Johnny Bananas, let’s keep that in mind. When someone DM’ed Cara about why she wasn’t appearing on that season of The Challenge, she said that she declined because she said it was rigged for Johnny to win. The DM was later tweeted by @GamerVev. This is clearly speculation, however similar to Lolo this tweet also probably came from a place of scorn.

That being said I hope Cara returns to the Challenge soon!

Wes Bergman

Wes appeared on the Bachelor Party Podcast and set the record straight about what his thoughts are about how real The Challenge is. And it seems that based on his comments, the show may be alot more real than other reality TV shows out there.

He said: “From a working relationship, I’ve found myself around other reality stars from other channels throughout the last 16 years or whatever, and when they share horror stories about scripting and faking and being taken out of context and all this stuff, it’s crazy,”

He then went on to say The Challenge is completely different from basic reality TV shows: “Our show does not do any of that. They started as documentarians, and they are still documentarians, they just happen to be really, really good, entertaining documentarians. I have never found myself in the position where the most important storylines aren’t being told in as fairly of a way as possible.”
