Breaking Amish premiered in 2012 and it was an instant hit for TLC. It was all about Mennonite and Amish 20 somethings Jeremiah, Abe, Rebecca, Sabrina, and Kate, who left their Amish roots to explore the outside world in New York. There was love, fighting, partying, family drama, and of course getting “English makeovers”. Along the way and many seasons later we met other fan favorites, Abe’s mom mama Schmucker, Abe’s sister Katie Ann, and more recently in season 6 Maureen and Rosanna.
So much has happened since Breaking Amish began in 2012. Rebecca, Abe, Mama Mary, and Kate left the show along the way for different reasons.
Abe and Rebecca said I do almost 10 years ago! They live a happy yet quiet life in Pennsylvania near Amish country, but they do not live the Amish life. Their daughters Malika and Kayla are so grown up now! Abe and Rebecca quit the show in 2017 to live a more private life, and Rebecca gave an explanation on Instagram last year. She wrote “A few years ago I hated myself and everything I stood for so I quit the show and started over. It’s been scary learning new things and trying different things but it’s been so worth the pain. I’ve learned that forgiveness and healing is a long hard road but it’s necessary for a good quality of life.”
Abe is a trucker now and Rebecca joined him for a trip recently, they went to Idaho and Minnesota and a few other places. Unfortunately, Abe’s truck broke down on the way, but they had it back up and running in no time.
Rebecca and Abe are still super close to Mama Mary. Mary was rushed to the hospital recently but is feeling better. There’s no clear explanation on what happened, but Rebecca published this post:
And do you guys remember little shy Katie Ann? Katie Ann wanted to go to the rodeo but she ended up staying Amish and getting married. She even had a baby in 2020.
Jeremiah’s been through a lot lately, and luckily for us, he’s very active on social media. He said he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, he moved from Florida to Vancouver, Washington with his wife Carmela, and on season 6 he unlocked the secret of who his dad was. He also even wrote a book called A Day in the Life of an Amish Kid. It’s sold on Amazon.
Sabrina
Sabrina seems to have overcome her addiction, and it seems like she and Jethro are still together, despite the tumultuousness of their relationship. Sabrina quietly revealed to People Magazine that she gave birth to her fifth child, a girl in September 2021.

Kate
Kate is totally out of the spotlight, she is a fashion designer, and her Instagram is used to show off her pieces.
It seems like Kate just totally distanced herself from the whole show, and she’s successful and I believe still in New York. She got an opportunity and she ran with it!
Kate went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2015. She’s a true fashionista.
