Sister Wives TALK BACK Recap // Is Robyn Done with Kody?

The new Sister Wives spinoff, Talk Back, officially aired and the wives and Kody unpacked Season 18, Episode 1. The episode even included a superheated exchange between Kody and Robyn on their couch in their million-dollar house.

Before they sit down and watch the episode of course they’re doing mundane things – Meri is putting out garbage, and Christine is foraging her cabinets for wine. Sister wives, they’re just like us!

Robyn Looks Miserable

Robyn looks not thrilled to be there. I don’t expect Robyn to have a great performance here.

The first question Kody gets from fans is “Will you ever do different hairstyles?” And we learn that Robyn taught him how to do the scrunchy curls. I had no doubt, but thank goodness he’s not doing the long wirey straight hair style from Vegas.

They react to a. clip that is all about the conflict with the boys and how Janelle and Kody’s relationship is going downhill. Kody chimes in and says ‘Oh Janelle’s narrative is that the boys aren’t welcome in my home’. I was hoping that Kody watching the show could give him more perspective, and soften him a bit but nope! Same ol same ol. He’s stuck on pointing the finger at Janelle and even Robyn’s not buying that on the couch I think.

Kody and Robyn Argue

Janelle and Christine wonder why Kody is so shocked and angry about Christine leaving because things were so bad.

Robyn and Kody start to argue immediately when the scenes air about Christine. Robyn’s making faces and trying to reason with Kody a little bit but his stubbornness is crazy. No matter what he doubles down on blaming the wives for everything. At one point Robyn asks him do you want to be an engaged father? He says ‘My kids don’t want to engage me, the issue is the representation of the mom to her children’. Dude what!? I don’t even think Robyn thinks that makes sense.

Christine’s Toaster

We learn that in season 1 when Christine said she didn’t want a toaster, her sister sent her one. For those who don’t know Christine said in season 1 that more toasters kill people than sharks (it’s actually true) so she put her toast in the oven and then she forgot the toast in there and it started smoking. Well, she has a toaster now.

There’s a part of the episode where Meri makes a joke about Kody preferring Robyn’s turkey when he originally agreed to like everyone’s turkey. Everyone seems to laugh except Robyn. Robyn’s on her couch and asks Kody ‘what is she saying?’

Robyn pretending she doesn’t know anything continues as well. In the next scene Robyn chimes in and says that she didn’t know it was that bad between Kody and Christine. She says I still don’t get it.

Family Traditions

Christine says that the family traditions stopped after Robyn and Kody and Kody responds to that by saying ‘Oh they are referring to Friday dinners – it’s because the older kids were busy in Vegas and they’re trying to blame you, Robyn, nobody knows you.’ HA

Despite the emotional turbulence, the Sister Wives unanimously agree that watching themselves on screen is a surreal experience. Overall, Talk Back is a captivating addition to the Sister Wives saga, earning a resounding thumbs up from viewers.
