Sister Wives Season 15 Episode 8 Recap and Reaction

Hold on to your seats because this episode includes probably the worst 30th wedding anniversary date of all time between Meri and Kody! More on that later.
The Boys Rebel
The episode starts in Janelle’s backyard (in April 2020!) with Garrison, Gabriel, and Savannah. At this point, Kody hasn’t been over to their house for over a month. The boys are still socializing and it’s raising eyebrows in the family. Kody blames Garrison and Gabriel and the boys blame him. At one point in the conversation, the boys say they think the family is done and Janelle says something like “no, no it’s just a temporary blip in the history of our family.” We’ll see!
We then see Robyn in her confessional. She says Kody shouldn’t be at her house this much, it seems wrong, but that she’s not making the decisions, they are. Basically, she’s absolving herself from that mess.
Truely’s Birthday
Next, it’s Truely’s birthday at Christine’s house. Truely is hitting a small piñata that’s impossible to get open. Kody blames Christine for not putting enough candy in the piñata, and Christine ends up asking him if he wants to be in charge of the piñata next time. He says “I don’t want to do anything I just want to complain about it.” Classic.
Kody and Janelle Reunite
Kody is finally going back to Janelle’s after a long long break to watch Hunter’s graduation. I’m somewhat bitter we didn’t see the actual graduation from the Air Force. Such a great achievement for Hunter! They’re both nervous to see each other again as if something could have changed. Kody says he is having an emotional meltdown. In a cute moment, Janelle giggles when she sees him and Kody says when they saw each other they were back in the groove. A sweet moment.
Worst Anniversary Ever
Kody arrives to Meri’s house for an anniversary date. She gives him a present of rice crispy treats that he loves and she asks him to guess how many are in there. He says 18? It’s just so apparent that he doesn’t even know how many years they’ve been married. This is their 30th anniversary. 30 years! So not the best start.
We find out Meri and Kody haven’t lived together since Las Vegas, and basically, they haven’t been out together since last year’s anniversary. They’re distant, and it’s sad.
At one point in the car, Kody says he thinks they miss the idea of being a couple but don’t miss each other. It’s just so clear that Meri is waiting for Kody to come back and he doesn’t even miss the relationship. I could not handle someone I was married to saying some of those things, it’s just crazy.
He says in his confessional that if she wants him to love her she needs to be loveable. OUCH.
Then, they go to a field and make a picnic of some type on tall grass. Meri is flirting hard. It starts to get dark and Kody starts venting about the whole family to Meri, specifically about one wife that he thinks will never be happy. I think this may be Christine. He says he has trouble visualizing the family together moving forward. Yikes! Where do they go from here??
